B8 Strange Noise from Under Bonnet
Just got my B8 2008 120bhp 2 weeks ago, my first diesel. Drove 10 min to shops yesterday evening 8pm, no delays in traffic, easy drive. when walking away after locking I heard a fan kick in under bonnet. Drove home an hour later, no instrument warning showing all appeared ok. Two hours later went to get something from the car and heard a sort of of Popping noise (distinctive popping) from under the bonnet like air or fluid expelling bubbles type sound. AFTER I opened the bonnet I heard a noise that sounded like a Servo or Purge motor running for about 10 seconds around the front passenger side of the engine compartment (key not in ignition). Checked but no signs of any leaks etc. Drove to work and home today and no problems. Only 60k on clock Should I be worried?
Re: B8 Strange Noise from Under Bonnet
Mine does the same thing after you switch the engine off or turn the ignition on without starting. Its just the various valves/pumps/servos resetting them selves to the right positions after being used / before you start (so i was told by the garage when i enquired).
Nothing to worry about, however if you start to get warning lights, then id take it in to the garage.
Re: B8 Strange Noise from Under Bonnet
Thanks for that A4Audio, sorry for delay in response I was on hols for a few days. On subsequent monitoring it seems to be related to the operation of the central locking.
