EGR fault P1441

Checked my codes tonight as i have a hesitation at low revs, usually just after changing gear then accelerating. Just as the turbo is coming in it dies,(as if turbo lost all boost) for about a second or two then it accelerates as normal. Found P1441 EGR valve, open or short circuit to positive. So I cleared the fault, drove round the block, checked the fault memory and the same code was back. Did this twice.

Anybody got any ideas what to check and if this could cause my hesitation?
