Switch issue
MK3 Golf ABA.
As the pic shows, the white plastic part on the bottom of the switch has a loose prong and I sometimes have to put pressure on the wires which plug into to it to start the engine cranking.
Am I looking at replacing the switch or does that white part pop off? I didn't really want to pry or push on anything to hard there until I had a better idea of what I'm dealing with.
Thanks.

Re: Switch issue
That is the ignition switch. To replace the switch you have to strip down the steering column but a loose terminal in the base plug may just need a tweak on the rasp to allow it to click back in but your phone picture attachment is not clear enough to see this.

Re: Switch issue
Fixed...the problem was that the prong was ever so slightly lose. Kind of like a tooth when you can just barely wiggle it but a PITA just the same.
If anyone is interested, I used the DIY from vwvortex which shows to remove the steering wheel/shaft from the joint and pull the whole assembly.
Including removal of the shaft from the donor to get the bottom part of the switch and installation, total time was about 1.5 hours with minimal use of 4 letter words ;)
Now, on to other problems.
