Fault code po121 and po221
Hi
Can anybody help, my wifes beetle is running really uneven and feels like its trying to run away, I have put my code reader on it now showing codes po121 and po221, Think its the throttle position sensor, is is difficult to change and does anybode know now much the part costs. Any :1zhelp:!!!!
Re: Fault code po121 and po221
I think the pedal and sensor are all one piece on the beetle. Costs about £70. Four nuts and a connector to get it off. You have the classic symptoms. P0121 and engine revs rise at tick over.
Re: Fault code po121 and po221
Thanks martin, will have to get one from VW tomorrow hope it solves the problem,
Re: Fault code po121 and po221
Hi
Fitted the new pedal and sensor but getting the same codes up again po121 and po221 any ideas what else to look for. Any help. Thanks
Re: Fault code po121 and po221
Does the car feel any different with the new pedal. Did you clear the codes and go for a nice long drive. Sometimes clearing a fault is not enough. You have to drive the car for the ECU to return to normal. Assuming that you have done all this, I suspect you are looking for damaged wiring or a bad connection.
Re: Fault code po121 and po221
hi Martin
The car drove fine for a week or two, now same fault codes showing its an intermittent fault comes and goes. The car idles fine sometimes, but other times its idles racing between 1000/1500 rpm. Its the wifes car and she wants to take it to VW but dont want to get ripped off.
Re: Fault code po121 and po221
Sounds like it may be damaged wiring or a dirty connector. Try moving the pedal wiring when the car is running fine in the hope of triggering the problems. You could try cleaning the ECU connectors but be careful if you do. You don't want to cause more problems. What code reader are you using. Some obd readers give silly codes.
Re: Fault code po121 and po221
Will give it a try moving the wires on the plug, I dont really want to mess with the ecu just in case I damage something, I am using a car care u480 code reader probably a useless piece of junk, but it was only cheap and we all know you get what you pay for!
