hi i am getting what i think is really poor fuel consumption on my a3 tdi pd 130 i am only getting between 250 and 300 miles to a tank full had it on a scaner and there are no errors just wondering if any one has any advice on what could be the problem thanks marc

What kind of driving do you do?
I do 30 miles of M/way and about 5 of town daily and I get 500 out of my 1.9 tdi but on the m/way I sit behind a lorry and enjoy the music while I'm driving :-)

mines heavey on fuel aswell I had it scaned came up with fuel temp sender have not got round to swaping for a new one yet have you checked for a boost leak and are you getting a lot of smoke

hi power seems to be fine no excessive smoke had it on a scanner as well no errors found it is baffeling me really dont know what else it could be any help would be apriciated

have u changed the maf i might be on its way out this can efect MPG also check if you have any boost leaks and if you havent i would clean the EGR valve out and when was it last serviced some times a maf sensor wont show a fault code and are u doing mostly town driving

hi yea i have replaced the maf sensor but didnt make a differance dont think it has any boos leaks as preformance seems to be ok didnt think about egr valve but will try it yea town driving mostly bit did a run to santa pod and back wich is 300 mile round trip and i got 400 miles to a full tank still dont really thing that is that great for 1 of these engines but might be wrong ? thanks for the help people

hi mate i have just had my EGR cleaned at it was full of sluge and this was causeing the valve to stick i also had a vagcom scan done and i needed to repace a temp sensor and fuel temp sensor so will see if this makes a difrance but i recomend you clean the egr valve

iv just had a new maf fitted becauses car was low on power il let u know what the MPG is like over the next week or so do you use supermarket fuel by since iv been useing shell mpg is a bit beter and iv put sum
FORTE ADVANCED DIESEL TREATMENT in since the EGR has been cleaned the car is much smother lower down in the rev range

hi just to let u know my MPG has improved having the EGR cleaned has diffrance to mpg and the way the car drives i need to change my fuel filter tho as its done over 10k miles another thing to check is tyre presers one of mine wrere down by 3-4 psi

thanks i will have to try that i am getting 34mpg at the moment which i think is really poor it was mostly town driving but was driving it steady has it made a big differance to your mpg i have also just replaced my fuel fillter and found a lot of black bits in the fuel so i removed the pump out of the tank and that was covered in a black like substance all over it so i also need to clean all that up

i was getting 32 mpg around town now getting about 39 and arond 45 on the motorway how many miles u got on yours mines done 96K and that EGR had never been cleaned and it was sticking and ful of crap black bits in the fuel i have nerver herd of this before :confused: have u tried driveing on the motorway at about 60 for about 10-15 mins and seen what the mpg is like then
