Passenger door mirror - kerb view adjustment

Hi all
my Golf Plus SE does not have the luxury pack fitted. So the passenger door mirror has never done the clever auto-adjust thing when the car is reversing....until yesterday! All day it decided to adjust itself. Today it has remembered that I didn't pay for the luxury pack and has gone back to not adjusting. Any clues as to how I could get this back since it is clearly software-controlled?

It's more than a little annoying that the feature is actually built into the car but disabled unless you pay for it. Wonder how the cost accounting works for that?

Whether the passenger's mirror dip or not when selecting reverse will depend on what setting your rotary selector is in - presuming of course you have the facility. For the mirror to dip your selector switch must be in the 'L' position.
Personally speaking (and I have do have the faciltiy), I would like both mirrors to dip simultaneously thus making it very useful for reversing between the demarkation lines of a parking lot.
