Mk4 Golf TDI No start help!!!!

Hi guys i have a 1999 mk4 golf tdi 90hp it started missing then as i drove up to scotland it just died and will not start. i have plugged in a diagnostic computer and no fault codes are displayed. changed the fuel filter and realay 109 still no start. If i spray easy start in the inlet it fires first time and starts for about 30seconds. any ideas? i am at my wits end :zx11:

Slipped timing belt, I have seen this on these engines, not much but I have seen where the big idler breaks up, first it misfires then will not restart, on the ocasions i have seen this no valve damage was done, a new belt kit and away you go.

Cheers for the info you were spot on, it was actualy the waterpump bearings that gave up the ghost... did not notice as there was no water leaking so she is running sweet as a nut for the moment :biglaugh:

Glad you got it fixed, lucky you had no damage, reminds me i ought to do mine! it's on my list but haven't had time to fit it in yet.
