gearbox oil ?????

hiya guys girls when driving fairly quick theres a kinda buzzing i think coming from gearbox area i say gearbox area cos when i put car out of gear sound stops could this be to do with no gearbox oil or should i replace any oil thats in there ???thx in advance;)

Just be aware that there is a special procedure for oil changing on the g/box, can't remember exactly what it is but somebody will be along soon

ok thx do u think noise could b cos oil is low or needs changing in g box

Daddy if you think that you can replicate the noise with the car statioary, it may be worth doing so with your head/ear under the car.
It's always difficult to diagnose through a computor ,but a buzzing sound would be usual with something vibrating, for instance an exhaust component or silencer internally breaking up, just a thought and worth having a look/listen before attacking the gearbox.
Low oil in the box would usually produce a harsh grinding sound and potentially get harsher .

cheers it sounds like engine is revving high even when it isnt thats the kinda sound im going out 4 10 min drive in car now ill try be more specific when i get back ill be about 20 mins thx

im back car doesnt do it when stationary its when im driving its like a high revving sound only when driving almost like im doing 60 mph in 3 rd gear when i knock it outta gear it stops ???:confused:

At one set road speed does it still occur in any of the gears and if so is there any difference in pitch or tone when in different gears,or is it one consistent noise whatever gear you are in?
Even when in neutral the box internals are all still moving, it maybe worth getting to a trusted garage to inspect just to be sure that you are not causing any damage
