Hi All!

Sorry to drop in and ask silly questions but...

I have just got a 1.9TDi and it needs the wipers changing. I've been told you need to do something to be able to lift the wiper arms up to get the blades off but the car didn't have an owners manual so I'm not sure what needs doing.

I guess the 2 questions are, what do I need to do to get the wiper arms in a position to change the blades? And does anyone have a PDF of the owners manual I could have so I don't have to ask any more stupid questions?

All help gratefully received.

iirc you open the bonnet and lift the wiper arm up, then the blade can spin to allow it to be removed, hope this helps mate, also you can buy a complete service pack, ie manuals everything from vw, then if you dont have the service book any dealer can check to see where your car was serviced and give you address'es to send the service book to have the mileage, type of service and date put in it

Thanks Chaps,

I'm having a read down the useful bits page, lots to take in.

It's a shame you can't just get a PDF owners manual, but this seems to be a general problem, not just a VW one.

Come on manufactures, get with the IT age and post those manuals

I feel better now.

Thanks again.

Put the wipers into the "service" position to change the blades

I guess it'd be better if people would just leave the damn thing in the car when they sell it. ;)

lol but thats to easy for most people, i must admit at work we spend a lot of time on the phone to main dealers trying to get service printouts and manuals, to me its like if you dont own the car why keep the stamped service book
