gearbox oil change

Hi, i have a 1.8 a3 97. It has 143k on the clock, would it be a good idea for me to change the gearbox oil? if so, how would i go about doing it? thanks, Lee.

Hi Lee,

I am thinking of doing mine too, mine has 125k on the clock, if it hasnt been done from new im thinkin it would be a good idea.

I haven't done a gearbox oil change before on an audi but generally you will have two bungs on the gearbox, one at the bottom, and one up the side some where.

If you drop all the oil out of the bottom bung, clean it and replace it, then fill the gearbox back up with clean oil from the side bung until it comes out of it, that should be about it.

Unless someone can correct me.
