I have herd of this problem before on this forum but can not remember the solution!

When the engine is in neutral and i depress the clutch pedel the engine judders and the revs drop to about 600rpm but soons picks itself back up.

I have herd people saying that when they are driving, i.e changing gear to corner and the engine stalling, this is kinda the same thing but not when driving, even tho my car does get very close to stalling but just as it gets too low on revs it pick itself back up again.

can anyone please refresh my memory on what the solution is please

:) thanks.

Hi, going by the other threads on this forum, it is a very common problem with VW's. The most common solution, it seems, is to clean out the breather pipe from the engine to the airfilter. Not sure why a blocked pipe would only affect the car when the clutch pedal is depressed, but for no cost but about 10 minutes of your time it has got to be worth a try!
Good luck
