Volkscentre in Blyth maybe? ( tel no. 01670 353131), good with the older models and the oily bits on the newer stuff. Proper old fashioned mechanics with dirty overalls :approve:. Got a bit negative with me when I tried to show him a fault on a vagcom printout though, he told me he could not fix it and to take it to an autoelectrician which surprised me a bit - it was only a duff glowplug that I fixed myself in the end !. I got the impression that he did not like me telling him the diagnosis:(.
Chatting to his receptionist on one occasion she mentioned that the boss "cant stand these forum nerds coming in here thinking they know everything". I cant fault his spannering though and he is not a rip-off merchant. I do not hesitate to recommend him.:D

Thanks for the replies.
In the end I've booked in with Volkscentre (to change a Cambelt and Tensioner). They're very local, prices seem competitive and they were helpful on the phone.
