Sorry to hear this moe - I'd personally not want the car back now as you have no idea how the car has been driven/treated. Hope it's resolved quickly one way or the other.

That's terrible news Moe :zx11:....it's probably already on iffy number plates so any distinguishing marks would help.
I'll keep an eye out here in NW London.

Do you know how it was stolen??? Did they nick the key from inside? Both of them or just one?

We have a business and on Sunday the 18th at 11am the scum broke down an alarmed door which then sent of the alarm somone called the police at 11am to report the alarm going off but the police said its a false alarm go check :zx11:

The person who reported said he is afraid to go check in-case they attack him, then the scum ripped out a 1 ton safe hidden in a wall which had my keys safe in them and took the safe to a hidden location and cut it open in half ! they found cash and my keys so came back to nick my car ! the police still did not come they came 6 hours after they had cleaned the place out !!!

My business relief manager was not in that night and I was stuck abroad due to the ash cloud so could not do anything and he did inform the police. both keys were in the hidden safe

Well apart from the seattles on a 3dr golf it had a Halifax VW sticker on the back, it had no damage or marks to the body work it was in perfect condition.

Because it was a leased car and not mine VW in MK said they will deal with the insurance company in regards to the payout as its there car not mine. They have been very supportive and helpful in this case, they said if you want to get anew VW we will provide you with a lease again no problem.
But if they cant find it me was thinking try a BMW 1 series 3 dr m sport coupe think it looks pretty smart and cheap to run if i get that will have to leave this great fourm :(

After 3 weeks it's unlikely to turn up now. Whilst the whole episode is a pain in the ***, and leaves a bitter taste, it's only a car after all and can be replaced. A work colleague has a BMW 116d sport and is a lot quicker than the golf and is easier to achieve good mpg. He only does 3 miles to work and in 2k miles hasn't seen adpf light yet! Nice drive but a bit too cosy inside for my needs. He waited about 10 weeks for his to arrive. Some nice audi a3s around too, and same money as the golf!. Ageing design but my fathers new tfsi engined sportback is still an impressive piece of kit.
Let's just hope the insurance bring this horrible issue to a satisfactory conclusion quickly.

I agree there is some positives maybe some positives I can learn\take from this experience as strange as it sounds....... I have a test drive with my local BMW dealership on Tuesday in regards to a 1 series 116d/118d sport\m- sport I am becoming a fan of the 1 design and RWD setup could be better then the MK6 will have to test it and see myself.
Looking at A3s as well but it remind me to much of my Golf so don't know if I would like one as nice as the interior is and badge.
Agree insurance payout time coming soon just have to wait a week or 2 then can move on from this horrible experience

Thanks Samiur tell me about it about as bad luck as you can get !!!:zx11:
its been 3 weeks now since it has been stolen no sign of her police no help so I am kind of getting over the loss feeling a bit better, trying to find the positives from this rubbish experience.
Test driving an Audi A3 1.4 TFSI Sport 3 dr today I like the A3 looks smart but will have to see if it is better then the Golf I had, 1 series is nice but the looks are 50/50 unless I spec the M sport again a test drive will help me find out which is best.
Thought about a Seat but I do not like the interiors I could get a Golf again but thought try some others first.
Tell me about it buddy and I thought I lived in a very safe area 20 years nothing like this happend god knows who the scum were I hope they get what they deserve one day ! before they nick steal some other poor persons Golf !!

Ah Moe, you'd be suprised about thinking you live in a safe area. In Birmingham, i have some friends living in some really nice places, and still their cars get attacked!
Make sure you shop around before your next buy. I do like the Audi A3, i have been seeing some 59/10 plate A3's that are normal 2.0tdi, but looking at them from the back, they remind me a lot of the S3. I'm sure they never used to have them lower rear bumper spoilers before. I do like it. The 1 series you have to get it in M Sport! The SE don't look that great. Make sure you d lots of test driving!

Yup i think when it comes to cars no area is safe the scum will come from anywhere to try and nick your pride and joy !!!
I like the A3 interior and its actually cheaper then the Golf in some aspects which is very strange ?
The facelift to the A3 in 2008 helped a lot and kind of made it look more updated and still even now it looks very nice do not see that many around that much seems like the Golf is the popular choice. 1 series is nice m sport is exspensive but insurance is not that bad so worth a look.
Some people have said you do not want back a stolen car but if they found my golf back in perfect nick (i doubt they will) I would have her back with open arms ! but it looks like its time to move on from VW shame it was a pretty fun 9 months and from my experience of a Golf as a car I can only say great things about it it was my first decent car I ever had :(.
If you have one at the moment hold on to those keys tight

unfortunately as Moe said (and found out) there is no safe are - in fact the irony is that the better the area the more it acts as a magnet to the scumbags since the locals tend to have decent cars which makes the old break in & nick the keys then the car routine a more profitable exercise.
sorry about yours Moe - hope you find a replacement that ticks the boxes :beerchug:

Just thought I give you guys a quick update 5 weeks gone by since the Golf got stolen !
no update from police and they basically said we given up on finding the criminals as we have no leads and they told us they cant find any of our property or the car.
Insurance processing claim doing all there usual investigations they just waiting for police report to come through and doing there usual procdures. Wish everthing speeded up a little been without a car for 5 weeks !!
Good news well the car was a leased car that me and my old man shared so vw Mk said dont worry we will get as much money from insurance as possible, i dont get the check so in theory I can go and get a new car again but I still have some hope it will turn up so am waiting ..... i have this fear if i get a new car the police will call and say we found your car but its been 5 weeks what are the chances ?
I have put a holding refundable deposit on a brand new Audi A3 Sportback in white 1.4 TFSI Sport and may pick it up next weekend but still holding out on golf turning up

Nope they only offer me a courtesy car if it is recovered and needs repair not much help when it has never turned up, the insurance have been kind enough to give me a hire for this Wednesday for 2 weeks as my dads insurance policy runs out on the 8 th of June.
Been an annoying 5 weeks lucky I work close to home so getting lift of my dad to work and mates while I kept hope it turn up but everyone given up that it will turn up. I heard many storys of insurance companys being a pain when it comes to theft claims as they have to investigate and do paper work but my broker been on there case from day 1 and has helped speed up the procdures

There is a prescribed time period which the insurance companies allow for any vehicle to be found - it might vary from one to another but 6 weeks isn't untypical before calling it a day.
Hopefully you'll be sorted soon - my fathers A3 Sportback Sport is a lovely car - the 1.8T engine has some very healthy horses, certainly feels a lot quicker than the 160bhp 1.4TSI in the Golf, and his only has 600 miles on the clock at present.

True 4 -6 weeks usual period but they like to investigate each claim as it different its a joke sometimes people have to go to work you know !!!
I am going to get the Audi on wednesday and this time its not a shared car with anyone its going to be all mine and with my own insurance got a quote for 1500 fully comp for myself first time on my own policy 22 do you think its fair ?

Not wishing to put a dampener on your situation, but a local farmer had to wait 3 months after his Land Rover was stolen,to make things worse then had to wait another 2 months to get a new one.
Can't really comment on the insurance,it's a good many years since I was that age,but I guess making a claim won't have helped.

Why did he have to wait so long to get a new one ?

The policy will be the first time I will be having insurance on my own name and not as a named driver on one of my dads cars, i thought i better build up my NCBs now and fed up of sharing a car it was not that bad but its better to have your own car 100% of the time not 3/4 days a week.
insurance say the claim is on dads policy as you never had a policy so you have no claims or anything

Update time, ok so last week was very interesting in regards to the stolen Golf, When I contacted VWFS contract hire department for the 6th time in 3 weeks they had no idea the car was stolen !!! I told them I told you guys 5 times they go were sorry about not recording it.
Got a phone call from there head office in MK about the stolen Golf she goes first of all sorry for not responding sooner to your information and then she went on about the process that she will do as its not my car being a contract hire VWFS own it and she said we will be contacting the insurance company to discuss the claim and getting money for the car.
She also said that some insurance companys offer a like for like replacement if your car is brand new and less then a year old when it was stolen, she goes the golf you had match's all the requirments for this. She contacted my dads insurance company Allianz and they said YES we do offer this on your Policy so got a call back from VWFS and they said we will get you a replacement Golf of the same spec or similar once all the claim has been processed and complete.... my dad was happy and I was happy.
It still did not stop me getting me my white Audi A3 Sportback sport 1.4 tfsi got it on thursday and wow!!!!! THE ENGINES amazing and the interior is miles ahead of the golfs sorry guys I am a Audi guy now dad can have the Veedub !

:D Yup it must be never driven a turbo petrol engine before but am very pleased with the 1.4 performance and pick up feels like a much bigger engine.
The Audi interior feels leagues ahead of the MK6s, the MK6s had a good interior but it feels a lot less well made next to the Audis, No squeaks or rattles from the A3 and the dealer was way better then the rubbish VW one.
Audi salesman gave me free gap insurance for 3 yrs, paint protection, Autoglym wax treatment and free car mats. VW guys gave me nothing and made me stand in the rain when they went through my car !
The Audi dealership did the demo inside a special room in the showroom which made it feel extra special and let me drive it out of the showroom as well.
I hope they give us a white Golf though will look nice compared to the boring black we had before:p

If its any consolation the VW dealers in manchester are cr*p as well they wouldn't give me any discount and told me massive waiting list for the golf this was for my mk5.
Had to go 40 miles to get what i wanted.

I think its the same everywhere VW really need to improve there customer service skills or at least make an effort, I am surprised that my Audi Dealer was so much better then my VW one, they are virtually the same company but the service was worlds apart !
In terms of cars I will await to see what like for like replacement the insurance will provide my dad is looking forward to having the Golf back he had a soft spot for it

Dad will drive the Golf when it arrives once the insurance process is complete as the policy states we have a choice of getting a like for like replacement if the car is brand and the loss is in the first year.
I might get insured on it as well to drive it now and then wonder what the replacement will be in terms of our last golf.
Audi is 349 per month pretty good value as the best price I got online was 327 on a PCP\PCH deal

Good to hear you are getting sorted out Moe,strangely enough the Audi dealer we went to was crap,we did look at the Audi before buying the Golf, and 12 months later have never heard a word back from them, never managed to get a quote or a price for the old car. And the same people own both garages, although it did help knowing the guy at VW having bought cars there previously.

sorry guys I am a Audi guy now dad can have the Veedub !
no need to apologise - I've had 2 and they're great cars, just a pity that they've been adopted by too many of the boy racers who used to give bmw such a bad image
without wishing to rain on your parade however, one word of warning
the dealers were fabulous - on the sales side - servicing was a different matter altogether
as the cars are generally uber reliable they don't bother carrying spares beyond maybe the odd oil filter - anything I ever needed beyond service parts was always "on back order" aka in Germany !!
hope you enjoy the car :beerchug:

Thanks PhilDon Yeh I have noticed people are not letting me out of junctions as much as they did when I was in the Golf. Mabye its got to do with me driving a bright white Audi ;)
When we had the Golf I was always flashed and allowed through strange
They did give me a free litre of oil for the Audi nice touch I guess thats as far as servicing goes oil change and some spark plugs
