Hi, I have been a member here for a while, but haven't been very active. I usually spend most of my time on audi-sport.net
A warning for everyone who wants to refurb their alloys.
I went to Birmingham 3 weeks ago to Citypowdercoaters to get my five alloys refurbished. Very nice guy who works for them, the one I spoke to on the phone before I went, said he'd only take 3-4 days to get them done I said ok, no problem. Next Friday I called and they said wheels are still not ready but they will be done for Monday.
Went to Birmingham early in the morning on Tuesday thinking wheels would be ready, but when I got there it turns out that the wheels are still not ready!!!!
Kept my cool and the guy I dealt with promised that the wheels would be delivered to my address during the week.. Got to the weekend - still no wheels. I called after the weekend, more promises that the rims would be delivered soon...
Today over 3 weeks later I still haven't got the wheels!!!
Don't know what to do but I am starting to believe they destroyed/stolen my wheels!
Last time I was on the phone to them it was on Friday, they said the rims are with the courier. I asked for a tracking number and the very same men I've been dealing with said he'll text it to me. Of course I never got the tracking number.
I am desperate and don't know what to do next.
Any advice?????

so you've got a tracking number for your parcel?
have you chased the courier for the whereabouts of your wheel?
It's a little unfair to risk deforming a company's character if the courier has your wheels.

Of coure I didn't get the tracking number until today.
If you have now been given the tracking number Im not sure why you are mentioning that you believe they destroyed/stolen your wheels?? -- I dont see the need to mention that as you now have a tracking ref.
Have you checked the tracking number with the courier service ? Is the parcel onsoute?
What information has the company provided you with the reason for delay?
I would suggest rather than slating the company, I would be in contact with them looking for an element of a refund for the delay rather than posting the above on a few public forums BEFORE you have got your wheels back.
I have not heard of the company before so do not have any feedback about them.
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Sorry, I didn't word it properly.
What I meant was that I never received the tracking number despite my numerous requests.

write them a letter, state that they now owe you a refund for both the work they were contracted to complete and the wheels you sent to them.
Provide them with 3 quotes for the wheels (and if fitted, tyres).
Allow them 14 days to comply.
In the meantime, contact trading standards as their assistance will be helpful if/when you need to pursue the matter through small claims.

They would not give me any reason for delay, just apologies.
I called them in the morning and they are still saying that wheels should have been with me yesterday.
When I asked for the tracking number today, they still could not find it.
I have posted it on a few public forums to warn others.

I see.......... so they have still not gave you a tracking number, even though they state they have sent them to you.
All you can do, ring them up, ask them WHICH courier company they used. Then call that courier company and ask them to do a manual trace for you to SEE if the parcel did ever exisit. (confirm the PICK up address and drop off address to them including postcode.)
If that fails, the WHEEL COMPANY will need to submit a claim to the courier company giving them the tracking number if THE COURIER company have lost the parcel.
The WHEEL COMPANY will then have 2 choices, 1 quick, 1 slow...
1st being giving you a full refund for the cost of the wheels and refurb OR new refund for a brand new set of wheels, which is ever cheaper via a payment.
Option 2, waiting for the courier company to try and "locate" the missing parcel, if that fails after 14 days will submitt a claim for the wheels as declared lost. Claiming total vaule of a BRAND new set, or refurbed wheels which ever is cheaper for like for like replacement.
IF the WHEEL COMPANY fail to provide a TRACKING REF, the claim will be declined unless thenthe WHEEL COMPANY confirm pickup and drop off addresses.
Your best bet is to ring the WHEEL COMPANY again and polilty request the tracking ref. advise you are happy to HOLD on the phone until they find it. Failing that, you will call back in 1 hour and continue to do so for the rest of the day.
Good Luck

Update:
Threatening to contact Trading Standards and automotive press seems to have worked . I received my tracking number yesterday evening, which is nearly two weeks later than promised. Rims should be with me today. It would have been much easier for both sides if the wheels got sent when I got told, without lies that they were in transit....

Glad to hear you are sorted, I may need a service such as this later this year. I will probably avoid this one.

Take them somewhere else, have them re-finished and then send the other people the bill and threaten to take action if they don’t pay. That is a shoddy poor quality job, you can even see where they have hung the wheels through the valve hole. If my chaps did that, I would refuse to pay. If you paid by credit card, contact the card company.

I was gonna pay when picking up from them, but since the wheels weren't ready then I didn't. Not going to now since I already spent over 60 quid on fuel.

You must inform them that you are not going to pay and why, the photographs will suffice, then take them elsewhere to get them done to an acceptable standard.

Ensure you right them a letter stating the reasons why you will not pay...
Go to Asda or Tesco... spend £1 and get the photos all printed and enclose with your letter of complaint.
Detail all the FACTS which have occurred etc stating that the job now needs to be carried out again..
Good Luck
Rick
