Does anyone know if these MK5 sills will fit a MK6?

If the supplier is Lockwood then they will etch pretty much any logo on the sills for you, whether they be the stepped Mk6 version or the single plate Mk5 ones.

You know I've seen different sill guards for mk6 and some use 8 of them on a 5 door because there is actually two steps on each sill if you look. ;)

Spoke to Lockwood and they are currently working on the MK6 sills - they are going to contact me as soon as they are ready! :biglaugh:

I spoke to them 2 months ago and they told me they were ready, both 3dr and 5dr. They'd been trying for months to find a car to measure but had finally done so.

Very nice. They make TDI and GT, I've asked them when they are going to make 4dr GTD sill protectors, just add a D onto the GT. ;)

Being the old sceptic I am, I was wondering what do you do when these things, themselves, get scratched and grotty - if they ever should, I suppose?
Like our friend, asking about windscreen stickers, are these easy to remove, not that I shall be indulging myself?

When they put them on I think one on the back was scratched, so they just took it straight off gave the sill a spray and a wipe off then put another on. Looked perfect when it was removed didn't see anything untoward.

You might if if you have the TSi.

The front ones are far better than any of the VW offerings IMO, but I'm not so sure about the offset nature of the rear ones and I'd have prefered the rears to be plain.

Personally, I would never need ones for the rear as no one ever goes in the back of my cars!

These might come off easily when the adhesive is fresh, so to speak but upon ageing it might be more difficult but it really depends on the chemistry/physics of the adhesive in question. Did they employ any special techniques in order to remove the damaged plate?

With the rears they have to be offset, to cover all the flat area, to protect it from scratching. That's down to the way vw make the car.
As to any special removal method i didn't see any apart from being careful.

I've had a reply and they say
Hi,
we have not had sufficient demand for them to make it worth while.

We will have to wait until more people ask. ;)

I've weakened and ordered the full set for my TDI - should have them in a couple of days. Not convinced by the offset plates for the rear door aperture, but i'll trial fit and make up my mind whether to fit all or just the bottom ones once i have them.
I'm buying them more for the looks than the additional protection.

Getting in/out the car in the garage is intimate to say the least and don't really want to scratch/catch the paintwork and had these in my puma and loved them

yes they did but sof are I've only fitted the lower sill plates, the upper ones look a bit too much to me. I didn't have any marks on the sills anyway, so I'm not sure how much benefit they are. All I will say is the car looks a lot classier when you open the doors. I'll get a picture posted tonight.
