Hello,
New here so hope some one can help me.

Basicaly, my girl/f has a 2005 golf td gti. The filiment was out of the lighter socket and a small magnet fell into the hole. She went to put her mobile charger in it not seeing the magnet there..... pop and a spark later and the lighter socket no longer works.

How do i tell if it has just popped the fuse (is there one?) or has it just killed the socket and would need ot replace that.

If the later where do i get one and how easy are they to install??

Thanks in advance guys.

i did exactly the same thing with a 5p coin, 'spark crackle dead'

It will have just blown the fuse, it will be in the end of the dash board.

I do remember when looking at the fuse layout in the manual it is all backwards so it may take a bit of finding.

I think it will be a 15 amp fuse and you can buy a mixed pack from the garage / halfords for a couple of pounds.

pull out old one push in new one - bish bash bosh.
