Yes its only an oil and filter change plus I would say they stick it on the VAG-com to check any faults. So you didn't have the service plan then? I asked the cost of a service and they quoted £150. I know its expensive for an oil change but while its under warranty you have to have it done by a recognised franchise. After 3 years you get the brake fluid changed. So I had the 3 year service plan for £250. ;)

About £100 is what my first service cost.
Or would have done, except it's a company car and costs me nothing extra....
And the second service was about £120 too.
And I'm on variable time & distance servicing too...

Do you actually need to get your under-warranty services at a "recognised franchise"? I thought you could get them done anywhere as long as they follow the VW Schedule and use VW parts?

Yes and No - the service has to be done by a VAT registered place using authentic VAG parts.
However, if you do, after the warranty expires and something breaks, don't expect any VW goodwill....

I've seen no evidence of any goodwill being offered by any element of VAG group outside warranty, on any of the forums in the last 9 months.
One Audi owner had his turbo fail 1 day outside warranty and no interest in helping out at all.

My thoughts exactly - never had any post warranty goodwill from any manufacturer.
I'd use an independent for servicing.
