After jump starting a flat battery, I am constantly getting the EPC Warning light when I first start car (1.6 MK IV petrol/16v). Engine refuses to accelerate - ie foot to floor and it just ticks over.

When I switch off & on again it seems OK, but EPC warning light remains.

Any ideas?

I had this problem on a Bora before. The problem was the throttle body needed the basic setting reset. Perhaps you've had a voltage surge when you jump started that has upset the engine ECU. Someone with VAGCOM should be able to reset the throttle body for you. And it's a good idea to switch on the headlamps when you jump start a car. Sounds like a daft thing to do, but it provides a path to earth for any surge voltage that is produced when you disconnect the jump leads.
