:zx11: :1zhelp: Good points....I have a 1993 polo coupe, low mileage, service history. Now the bad bit.... When engine is warm or choke is disengaging, I have noticed a slight misfire and then just cut out. It will then not start for approx 30-60mins (varies, depending on temp possibly). Then it will start straight away, only enough for me to go anywhere between 4-5miles. I am sick of sitting in back streets, because I have to avoid junctions, and major roads with potential traffic jams fear of creating an even worse one, through stalling......Please can you help..
Hi Polopearl, does the engine turn over after it has stalled? If it does, it could be that there is a blockage in the petrol cap or fuel filter. I had same prob long time ago, many hours taking bits apart, changing parts etc, and still same problem. Changed the filler cap and bingo, no more stalling... apparently a vaccum was being caused by the hole being blocked in the filler cap.

Hi Mr E, was told the same thing by a friend. Have already tried this, but apparently because there was no distinct vacuum hiss to be heard, told that it had to be something else. Thanks alot anyway

Hi,
I think you problem sounds like something my polo (J reg 1.3 CL) was upto about a year ago. It too would cut out for after about 30mins and tracked the problem down to the breather hose. It connects from the back of the engine to the underside of the air filter i think. Hope this helps!
