Sat Nav Problems

I have a 2009 Reg A4 with the 2G Sat Nav.

After loading the UK route I have selected the Demo option which should then take you through the programmed route?

However, I find that it takes you through a German Demo route, this happens whatever route has been programmed.

Is this a known problem with the Sat Nav?

Sounds to me like you've just got the start point set to somewhere in Germany. This is only used when in demo mode so it does seem to fit with your problem.

The start point is either just above or below the demo mode setting.

I have had a look to see if there is a start point option and I do not see one?

The start point should automatically be your current GPS position.

If I start the UK route normally it will load the correct route, it is only if you select the Demo Mode that it then starts a route from Germany, the same route whatever previous UK route has been loaded.

So it would seem that is is loading a default route and not selecting the programmed route from the current GPS position?

[1] there's not a polite way of asking so - have you read the manual?
[2] I had a look on mine today whilst waiting for the Mrs. If you go into demo mode i.e. via setup then the option above it (I think) is start point.

I'm still convinced it's set to somewhere in Germany.

Demo does not just default to your GPS position becuase the idea of it is to allow you a dry run of a trip and that may be from point G to H rather than A to B.

I have had another look and can see what you were referring to about the Start point.

With reference to the manual it advises that you should only need to make a change to the Start point if you are wanting to do the Demo from a location other that the current position, so in that sense I was right about it automatically starting from your current position.

On entering the Start menu it was set for Great Britain, so I don't know why it defaulted to Germany?

There is also a GPS position location which was not set, so this was zeroed to my current position.

When I do the Demo it now correctly starts from my current position.
