I've recently bought an A5 (3.0 TDi), with a 2007 sat-nav disk locked in the drive. I rang my local dealer to ask if they could unlock it to put in a new disc(out of my mates written off A6 (2009)) and they said I'd have to pay to get it unlocked (£69+Vat).
Bit of a rip off I thought, but I may as well invest in a VAGCOM cable and do it myself on my laptop.
What lead would do the job? I've seen a few cheap ones on ebay (£10 ish) are these suitable? Is the software easily available?
I've looked at several posts on various forums and apparently its pretty straight forward, its just a matter of resetting Channel 068 from 1 to 0.

Ebay stuff is fake, ripoff rubbish and wont work with the A5 anyways.

Get the latest genuine article. www.ross-tech.com or Google a UK supplier.

Ok this function should be removed at pre delivery inspection. Its function is simply to prevent showroom theft or transportation theft.
I'm lost for words, they wish to charge. I think this should be free

Can I draw your attention to the foum rules...

VCDS products offered for this sort of money are, in most cases illegal copied products of Ross-Tech products, which must not be discussed on this website. Can I draw your attention to the foum rules regarding this...

If, this is a GENUINE product that is used/2nd Hand, then we have no problem with the item being offered FOR SALE....

I have removed your contact details for now.

Thanks

Stuart

All sorted, I went along to my local dealer a week ago and told them that the drive had a defect and under the terms of the warranty I would like it sorted so I could insert my genuine Audi disk, which I showed them. They explained that it had been overlooked and it had been highlighted on their own records. Not sure if getting it done myself (Ross-tech or not) would have invalidated my warranty. Anyway they obliged and it was done yesterday. My maps are now up to date :biglaugh:
