New car, well 03 plate actually! Realised tonight in the dark that there is no illumination for the manual climate dials. I can't believe this is right!

I worded this question very badly...
All the question is, is if you have the manual controls for climate (not climatronic) are they supposed to light up when you turn your lights on? Mine don't.
Surely someone can tell me this?!!!
Yes.
The bulb will have blown.

Thanks. Thought so.
Is the bulb easy to get to and replace?

take a look at this. i've just ordered bulbs after much googling but don't know if correct ones. if they are i'll give you web address.
the link is instructions on how to get at the lamp / bulb. don't ask the dealer, they'll charge the earth and do the same as this shows you.

Had a look at that. That' great. If you get the right bulb let me know more. The only tricky bit is getting the dud one out and the new one in.....Keep me posted
Thanks very much

hi, these are the bulbs i ordered. i got the vacuum tubing from pet-smart (don't laugh - in the fish-tank section). it simply pulls the bulb out when over it but when you replace just place a little bit in the tubing and once in place 'wiggle it' loose. really very simple but it looks twice as good.

Just bought 2 white LED ones off ebay for £2 including delivery!
Fitting it's going to be difficult without a hose!

seriously, the tube is worth it. cost about £4 in per snmart but thats cos i was there when i needed it. try B&Q or any hardware store. i tried with tweezers but cos the space is so small and the LED so sliipy you woun't get a grip.

I've just replaced my bulb, got 2 for 99p from Wilkinsons of all places!!!!
Tricky to get out (used small pliers with masking tape wrapped round them to grip) and have used a raw plug to insert the replacement, works well if you can get a size that fits over the bulb ok, and allows you to give it a good push.

The bulb is 5mm across so presumably 5mm hosing is what you need...

Bulb : £1.79 from Halfords, I wasn't sure whether it's the 1.2w OR 2.3w so went for the 1.2W.
Hose not necessary, just a pair of long nose pliers if you're careful
Will find out tonight whether it lights up the display ok. It turns out that the LED version I bought off the internet failed to light up the display at all. I think you need an old fashioned bulb so that the light is emmitted at a wide angle....
