Hi all, first post.

I've just upgraded from a B5.5 to a B6 passat and I'm loving it. :D

Anyhow, I've been looking into ipod adaptors and bluetooth hands free, and the more I delve in, the more I get confused.
btw, my stereo is an RCD500.

I tried a VW ipod adaptor last weekend and after fitting it, it wouldn't recognise my ipod (5th gen. 60GB ipod video). So that went back to VW.
Reading through as many posts as I could manage I picked up on the Parrot MKi9200 and thought it sounded great - ipod adaptor and BT handsfree for £50 more than the VW ipod adaptor.
One question I have though is with the ipod streaming of the parrot.
Does 'PHONE' appear on the head unit screen permanently whilst listening to the ipod? And does the parrot use it's own amp to stream music?
Also, what's the sound quality like?

More posts in and I get to a lot of recomendations for the Dension Gateway. So looking into that, it appears the 100 would do everything I'd like. GW16VC1 is apparently the right unit, so I looked at it on youtube, and it all looks great - except my passat has the small binnacle screen.
So will the RCD500 display song titles, playlists, album names etc etc?

Thanks in advance for any replies.
Cheers,
Tim.

I forgot to mention the Dice!
£30 cheaper than the Dension, and it appears to do exactly the same.
Has anyone had one of these fitted?
And is that capable of displaying track names etc on an RCD500?

Cheers,
Tim.

Hi There,

Yes we sell a number of Dice Kits for the VAG Range and have Positive feedback.

Simply Plug & Play to the CD Port on the back of the Radio

Control form stereo and iPod

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply.
I went and checked up on the Dice website, and unfortunately that unit can't display text on the rcd500. :(

I also called one of the guys at Shark this afternoon to ask about the Dension. Very helpful, but unfortunately no text capability due to my rcd500 and small display in the dash. :(

It would appear the only way for me to see any track, playlist or artist information would be through the parrot. (I did entertain the idea of an RCD510 for a few seconds - until I found out the price of them!!)
So full circle back to my original question - does 'PHONE' show on the RCD500 all the time that music is streaming?
And can the parrot be wired so that it uses the RCD's volume/ fade and balance controls whilst streaming music?
