Hi All,
Thinking about a remap of my newly purchased 2.0 (140) but want to understand the implications...
1. How much roughly does a remap cost?
2. I assume once you have it done you need to declare this as a modification to your insurance company - does it add a significant amount? Will the savings I make with better fuel economy cover this additional expense?
3. Any implications in the long-term running? Are there any problems potentially caused by remapping?
Cheers :beerchug:

Hi
Our remaps for the 2.0TDI are £299. You really do need to tell your insurance company, remaps are NOT undetectable (despite what most tuners might like to tell you) and the amount you'll pay will be very individual to your circumstances as with any insurance. For some people it's even free.
You should see a 5-10% decrease in fuel consumption in normal driving however if you are already light footed this can be negligible.
As for long term running problems, I myself have had several high mileage remapped cars, 140k, 165k and 199k and I'm sure they're all still going strong (a friend of mine owns one and I still own the 199k one!).
Beware that there are good and bad remaps. Many people think that a remap is a product while in reality, it's a service. The problem is, it's not easy for you to know what's actually been done. My advice is to do your research and ask opinions from other people - oh, and read this post from member sooty2k about his B7 2.0TDI 140PS ;) http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=93475
