Hi realise there are all sorts of threads and solder joints on door modules seem most likely cause but trying to work out which one.

Only drivers door opens from remote and drivers door key in the lock. However the using door card switch to open all doors does exactly that. So how do I work out which door is the problem, how do I narrow down the faulty module?

If the convenience is likely where is it?

The alarm appears to work as red light flashes and can hear the second pulse of deadlocks.

Many thanks for any help.

Have you tried pressing the open door button on the key twice?

Yes tried the key fob twice, thanks. Also discovered the boot only opens if the key slot is vertical.

The convenience module is located under your steering wheel (although try other things before you conclude on the convenience, because it isn't cheap). You will need a T20 screwdriver to unscrew all the plastics underneath the wheel

I had the same problem with my anniversary a few years back, all i did was to disconnect the battery for 5 mins and everything sorted itself :)

Hi. I have the same problem on my golf 2.0. Only, 2 doors does not lock automatically when driving...so i hit the button twice on my drivers door and it locks. Works fine, but wish it could be fixed. Any ideas??

Hi All,

I'm a new owner of a 2003 Mk4 Golf 1.6 auto. When we picked it up the fob would only unlock the drivers door (even when pressed twice) yet the key and door card worked fine. Having read various forums there was a suggestion to disconnect the vehicle's battery for 5 mins. 5 mins hahahahahaha !! After about 5 seconds the alarm went off !! So, without the battery connected the fobs wouldn't silence the alarm and turning the ignition on didn't work either, obviously. Now in a state of sheer panic, I reconnected the battery (can't have been disconnected for more than 45 secs) and now the fob unlocks all doors (and boot) on the sceond press of the button. Re-sync'd the front windows for up & down as per the manual.

So, OP, try disconnecting the battery (watch out for the alarm going off) and reconnect ?

Cheers,

Chris
