hi everyone

looking for a little more advice. my passat 1.8t (AEB engine code) seems to be developing quite a bit of crankcase pressure, enough to lift the oil filler cap when unlocked!! and also i can smell oil fumes in the cabin occassionally.
does the breather system become bloccked in places and where is the most likely place for it to happen?

any advice/thoughs much appreciated........ mark

hi everyone

just a little up date on this issue. today i stripped out the breather pipework. found a broken connection that i'm sure would account for the fumey smell issue in the cabine. but i was suprised at just how much crud has accumulated in the pipework, although the pipework was not blocked flow must have been very restricted. so a well worth exercise i think!!!

cheers............... mark

hi mike

sorry for the late reply. well the whole route was quite blocked. the steel pipe that runs around the back of the cylinder head and to the breather valve was very nearly blocked solid. the deposit is quiet difficult to remove, i found a solvent that seemed to disolve the crud and eventually got it free.

another job that was worth doing i think!!!

cheers................ mark
