Hi,

Read a few pages of articles and done a search, but I can't find anything about connecting an ipod via something like a Dension to my RNS-D head unit.

I have the CD changer in glovebox, does this need to go?

Does the Dension 100 have a video output so I can see ipod screen on my RNS-D screen?

Thanks

Peter

Hi There.

I think you mean RNS-E, you can connect a Dice VW Kit to the CD Changer port but you will lose the CD Changer in the glovebox.

The Dice Link can be found below:

Nope, I mean the RNS-D, aka Navigation Plus.

Hi,

Ok, i think it would be the quadlock connection on the back

So i will suggest the VW Dice Kit.

Would the Dension 100 work?

Does it have video output?

If so, would I be able to connect video output somewhere so I could put headrests with screens in the car and show stuff form the ipod?

Hi There,

Yes the Dension GW100 will work.

Dension Code: GW16AD2

There is no Video output available

Any chance of elaborating??

I want something that can connect to my head unit, so I can charge and play ipod, and control from steering wheel.

But that can also play video through the screen using the Aux/TV channel??

thanks

I'm afraid Dension do not offer a product that will allow to play iPod video through your RNS-D

The GW16AD2 will allow you to charge and play your iPod and also skip through tracks using your headunit or steering wheel controls. The unit is not text compatible so you will just see Track numbers on your headunit, therefore selection of albums/artists etc will have to be done from the iPod it's self.

You can purchase a cradle or dock cable with the AD2, if you purchase a cradle you can mount the iPod on your dash to make selection easier.

We also offer a CD changer retention kit for this product that will allow you to keep your CDC (part number CDR2AU2)

Would I not see like Artist/Album name on the DIS??

Do you know of any third party kit that would allow me to see video on the screen?

Peter

Although the majority of our Audi products allow you to see album/artist/track info on the DIS, we do not offer this with the RNS-D as it's quite a rare unit and operates differently.

I'm afraid I don't know of a product that will allow you to display your iPod video on screen, but try Nav TV.

Have recently connected an auxiliary input adapter for the RNS-D Navi Plus.

See this excellent thread from a very knowledgeable chap (Different forum I know but it's all about sharing information to help each other in my view)

http://audisrs.com/about24845.html&highlight=

I didn't buy this adapter - Check a certain internet auction website and there are some very affordable adapters there as well. The RNS-D Navi Plus system has a 20 PIN ISO connection, therefore had to buy this harness:

http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/product.php?productid=102&cat=0&page=6 (This is included in the adapter bought from this website, as per first link)

Basically, the adapter tricks the head unit that it is playing from the CD Multichanger (or you can maintain both options depending on which adapter you go for). Very good sound quality.

Plug in HTC smartphone - Music, handsfree, sat nav all in one place - Superb!

Can't control music through the headunit - through the smartphone/mp3/ipod only. Not an issue for me - Shuffle, play and off you go, for a very affordable price.
