Hi,
Hope you can help, friend of mine has an A3 3.2 DSG on a 54 plate. The problem he has got it that the engine runs very rough missing at low revs between 1000-2500rpm and does not idle well however, after 3000rpm its fine and smooth. The engine check light is on.
Hes took it to one garage who plugged vagcom in which showed coil pack on cylinders 1 & 2 and cam sensors. They have been changed but no luck same problem same errors.
The guy at the garage then suggested it could be that the timing chain has stretched?
If the timing chain has stretched then would this cause the above symptoms and why does the car run smooth at over 3000rpm?
What should be the next course of action? Are there any inexpensive checks that can be done to confirm if it is the chain or not?
Regards
Ray
