Hi all,
Long story. have had a few issues with obtaining my spare key.
So i purchased a used one from ebay received today and looks mint:D
Only problem it wont work :aargh4::aargh4::aargh4::aargh4:
Apparently they are dealer supply only along with the blades that have to be cut.
Have contacted an auto lock smith who has advised that e bay should remove these type of sellers as they will never work. Once coded they are useless.
Trying to get a refund but seller is being an **** :zx11::zx11::zx11:

I've bought several keys from Ebay and had them coded no problem. Maybe you need a second opinion from someone else??

first stop for me would be a vw specialist who may have the computer and facility to code keys - i noticed there were a selection of keys available at a specialist near me who has just done my DRLS...

I had a spare transponder and it had to be programmed to the car, so it could operate the central locking and engine, but it was bought against my car reg by the dealer.
Not sure how you get passed the blade issue though
Keep us informed Mr 25 :biglaugh:

on a similar theme... is it possible to get new 'outers' for the new B6 keys? in other words, my buttons are all scratched, the logo is no more and it generally looks a bit worn....?

Have contacted VW and its a no go :zx11::zx11::zx11:
I will need to purchase a brand new one that has never been coded.
Also to a get a spare blade cut I would have to get it from VW as they have copyright on them.
I have been offered a full refund also from ebay :D

But were they for a B6?

You cannot recode the key fob for a B6 passat. You can only code a new key fob. BUT some companies are now claiming they can replace the internal chip and recode that. I have yet to find anyone who has had this done though.

mine was for a paasat 2004 tdi i gave them the part number and he sent me one the next day :)
i think they have a few in stock for different models etc ( he did mention in the leaflet it was a newly launched site) therefore maybe still adding to stock it
Yep, not for a B6....As others have said on here, you're wasting your money buying a key for a B6 from Ebay.

apparently you need a secret key code to code the new b6 keyfob that can only be obtained by connecting to vw's servers in germany by the dealer who does not even get to see the code when programming the keyfob.
