The main dealer quoted me £37.50 + VAT to reprogramme, which, on balance I didn't think was too bad. They only charged me £5+vat to cut the new key. Good luck.

I bought a "flip key" off EBAY, I had it cut & managed the remote unlocking, but the main dealer said the key could not be programmed for the engine immobiliser, but they could supply a complete new key for about £150.00.

Is this right about not being able to programme the immobiliser part of the key or is this just another ******* rip off.

All the numbers in the new key match the old key exactly.

2 dealers where i live among them couldnt supply me with a correct part for my passat and sold me a part for a mk.5 golf, i asked on here and within hours had the correct part number - some of these stores guys at dealerships need training or paying off . bunch of anchors some of them.:zx11:

Yes I agree, but that dosent answer where I can get my key programmed, and I am led to believe only dealers can do it as I do not have the skc code thing.

On the B5 the skc can be extracted from the car by someone with the correct software. You just need someone who has got it. What ever you do don't let "just anyone" try this. You can seriously damage the car if you don't do it properly. Vag-com can code in the new key but it can't extract the skc.

Does anyone know anyone in the Liverpool area that can do this for me?
