Hello all, i have a cab 2.6 on a 94 plate and its been fine until recently when the abs lights came on ? I did have to jump start the car but the brakes feel fine. Can anyone give me any pointers where to begin my search for the cure?

Hi
Do you have a ABS switch? If it's switched off the abs light would be on!
Or does the light come on straight away, or shortly after you start driving?
At some point the ABS system was changed to a system with diagnostic ability, I think a '94 would be late enough to have this, so a code read may be the way to go

Scotty many thanks for the reply, it doesnt have an ABS switch and the light comes on after a few minutes. Could it be the connections as its been stood for a while. When i started it up 2 months ago the light came on but then it went off after about 15 minutes?

Hi
Sorry offline for a while!
intermittent lamp illuminating when driven faults are usually sensor related I think. Not necessarly the sensor itself, maybe the gap, or dirt on the tip or something amiss with the teeth on the tone ring.
on the older cars, the sensors measure 1200 Ohms, may still be the same sensors on the late models?
I guess it could be the plug, they are usually quite reliable as long as the rubber seal inside is not lost. The front connections are inside the engine bay near the airbox/ducting and the expansion tank, the rears may be under the rear seat squab.
