If it is of your interest, my A6 is MY2010 and my 5F codification is this:

I hope this can help tou,
Enrico.
Thanks! It looks like your 5F module is a later revision than mine - yours is 4E0 035 666 C and mine is 4E0 035 666 B
I don't get any issues with the 5F at all - just this error reported in VCDS. I only have the car for another two months, so I guess it will never get resolved.
Cheers!
MF.

Can You gentily post all the ECUs codification with VCDS using the function scanner ?
I've an A6 Avant TDI 2.0 170cv as you and I wish to add the functionality: AHA (Audi hill Assist). i think it is a codification of the ABS ECU (addr. 03) but i don't know which are the right bits ...
I think that in UK, AUDI enable this feature automatically and I whish to add it on my car.
Can You help me please ?
Enrico.
None of the A6 4Fs over here in the UK have hill hold as far as I know - I have never seen it offered as an option.
I can happily post the coding of my ABS module, but it will not really help you I imagine - my car does not have hill hold.
It is now a standard feature on the new 4G A6s, but they are a totally different car.

Many thanks MF,
I know that A4 (B8/8K chassis) and some A6 (4F-C6 restyle, like mine) has this option anabled. So I think that it is only a different codification of the ABS module. Now if your A6 does not has it, it is not necessary that You post your ABS codification.
The same thing is for some features anabled into the 5F module. For example, did your audio system has some DSP effects ? Your audio system is composed by 8, 10 o more speakers ?
Thanks again,
Enrico.

Hi
MFGF
Did you get 01043 - Control Module; Incorrect Software Version resolved?
There is a way to clear this fault you need to read
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 15
Value should be 0 count number is important
Take your count number and do some sums.
if count is 2164 adapatation value is worked out like this
2164 xor 51666 = 49574
49574 is the adaptation value....51666 is always the same
Regards
Andy

Hi Andy,
Ok. This is officially weird. I just went out to the car armed with this information and my VCDS on my laptop. When I scanned the car before starting any changes, it reported no faults across the board! Specifically, the results for the 5f module looked like this:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 5F: Information Electr. (J794) Labels: 4E0-035-6xx-5F.clb
Part No SW: 4E0 035 666 D HW: 4E0 035 666

Subsystem 3 - Part No SW: 4F0 910 609 E HW: 4F2 919 611 M
Component: Bedienteil MM H01 0060
No fault code found.
This scan result looks entirely different to the way it used to!
I was intrigued, so I went to look at the values in Adaptation channel 15. My count number is 10420, but the stored adaptation value is 0. According to the calculation, the stored adaptation should be 55702. No errors are reported, though. Very weird!!!
The car was in at my dealer for service last week - I wonder if any kind of software update was done which may have fixed the issue? I checked my installed version, and it reports HNav_EU_K0031_3_D1
Because no error is being reported, I have not changed the adaptation value. I will keep an eye on it over the next few weeks and see if the error returns.
The only other change I can think of is the version of VCDS - I am now on the following after the latest update:
VCDS Version: Release 11.11.2 (x64)
Data version: 20120126
I now have a labels file for the 5f, whereas there wasn't one available back in February 2010 when I first recorded the scan in VCDS 908.1. I don't see how this could have had any impact on the error, though.
Cheers!
MF.

Hi
Im not sure but I think the adaptation channel reverts to 0 after you enter your value
My incorrect software version only appeared after I added the battery meter so think it is some sort of checksum for mmi
Did all you vcds tweeks stay after your visit to the dealer?
Andy
PS when I entered my new adaptation value the fault code cleared without me having to clear fault codes

I see! It looks like there is no need for me to do anything at this point, then. It's puzzling that the fault disappeared of its own accord, though.
I always reset all modules back to standard coding and adaptation values before the car goes in to the dealer. I reckon the tech servicing my car has enough pressure to do the job in a fixed time without getting distracted by non-standard module coding being flagged up. I only have the car for eight weeks, so I will probably leave the coding as standard now so I don't have to reset it all when the car goes.
Thanks for the useful info!
MF.

I don't see adding 'Lap timer' anywhere so far so you can add that.
address 17 instruments
use long code helper
change byte 1 bit 3 to make lap timer active.
It then becomes an option in the DIS screen, the oil temperature display is probably the most useful but there is a timer and a gimmicky boost gauge as well.

Has anyone managed to enable ambient lighting on the faclift 2009+ models?
I've tried but have no ability to adjust the Byte / Bit in the long code helper, nothing is shown.
I got this to work easily on my 06 Plate A6, but no luck on my 10 plate.

My last C6 facelift (2009 Le Mans) had the Ambient Lighting pack fitted as standard. I still have the scans from the car. Which module do you need the coding for? You could try copying mine to see if it works?

I don't see adding 'Lap timer' anywhere so far so you can add that.
address 17 instruments
use long code helper
change byte 1 bit 3 to make lap timer active.
It then becomes an option in the DIS screen, the oil temperature display is probably the most useful but there is a timer and a gimmicky boost gauge as well.
AFAIK only work on face lift cars as tried this when got my VCDS in Jan on mine and did not work :Blush2:

Yep - only applicable to facelift cars with the new-design cluster.

The mods I have done that aren't mentioned already here (pre facelift):
1. Changed the MMI boot/standby screen from the boring standard one to the RS6 one.
Control Head - Coding - Change 3rd digit (..X....) from 0 to 3. 0 is A6, 1 is S6 and 3 is RS6. This also makes the car feel much faster! ;)
2. Disabled seatbelt warning. In my circumstances (no kids in car) I like to have full control and in the rare event it used to warn me, it was due to pressure from something on the passenger seat that wasn't actually a passenger. I tend to know if I am wearing my seatbelt or not!
Instrument Cluster - Coding - 6th digit (.....X.)
0 = No Seatbelt Warning
1 = Seatbelt Warning (EU-NCAP)
2 = Seatbelt Warning (NAR Old)
3 = Seatbelt Warning (NAR New)
4 = Seatbelt Warning (EU-NCAP incl. Passenger)
5 = Seatbelt warning (NAR Old incl. Passenger)
6 = Seatbelt Warning (NAR New incl. Passenger)

Hi peeps :) ...
I was going to add voice control at some point to my car...
As a test I enabled voice control in the bluetooth module...

On Link:- Ross-Tech 4F wiki (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Audi_A6/S6/RS6/allroad_%284F%29) they show it will work for BT modules with labels 4E0-910-336 & 4F1-910-336 ... but not 4E0-910-333...
Thanks Gup. Hopefully Chris will spot this and add it to the beginning of the thread... :)

Hi guys,
I have the facelift cluster on my pre facelift. Will the needle sweep work with that setup?
Hi guys,

I assume so. The only way to be sure is to plug in and see if it's an option.

Instead of beep on lock can hazard flash on lock be enabled?

Yep there are adaption channels within the central convenience module although my hazards flash as standard when locked?
I'll screenshot my coding in the morning but here is a video of the bleep

The 'blink' are the hazards.
Not sure what the Terminal 87 thing is tho.

Many thanks as always Chris!
I managed to get the beep on lock on working but rather just have hazard flash and no beep as with two babies it's too risky waking em up

Just go into Central Convenience, hit Adaption and look in the drop down menu for the Central Locking Functions and change the new value to suit what you want.

I checked it when I did the beep but I'm sure it didn't say how to do that...I'll double check

This is my first post so I shall start by saying hello to everyone !
I own an 55 plate S-line A6 3.0 TDI and I'd like to kindly ask a few questions:
The first one is a little silly regarding the hidden menu activation, I'd like to know what's concept of "drop down menu" in the coding section and also what exactly do you gain access to after enabling it because I can already access the battery meter in the MMI
The next one would be about the Xenon headlights, mine are aiming to low in my opinion and I had a look at an other user xenon coding, an 09 facelift, and it was ending in 03 mine is ending in 16 (I should also mention that I've installed the RS6 headlights with LED DRL that's why I've taken reference from a facelift model, maybe that's wrong) and also when the headlights are off and DRL on I've noticed that on the passenger side the LED's are not dimming when indicating, driver side is. I was wondering if this has something to do with coding as well or something is wrong with the headlight itself.
I shall be looking forward to your wise suggestions !
cheers, Cristian

Welcome to VWAF.
As you already have the battery meter there is no real benefit of the hidden menu as you could end up bricking something. If you follow the first post you'll see how to enable it, it's pretty easy.
Does your central convenience module support LED DRL? Some early cars like yours probably doesn't hence why they aren't dimming. You can upgrade your convenience module but we need to see your current version which you can gain from doing an autoscan and pasting it in here.
I assume its been wires up correctly as I remember seeing the DRL needs a direct feed into the central convenience module - I think this was on a A3.

Thanks for your quick reply Chris !
I won't go any further the with the hidden menu but I still don't understand how to "drop down the menu" I've tried scrolling down the channels but I don't think that's what it's referring to.
Here is a recent scan that I've done and I was about to ask about the fault codes that I found:

In your C drive (or wherever you installed vcds to) there will be a rosstech folder, inside that you will find a debug folder then you'll find 4 txt files showing all changes made along with each individual module changes

Everything's logged (see earlier on in this thread) and reversible so should you mess anything up you can easily revert to standard.
But please oh please if you enable the hidden menu for the MMI stay away from anything you don't know what it does as it's not logged and not as easily reversible.

No setting for the amount of dip, if you have the mirror set lower initially before selecting reverse, it'll dip a bit more.
M1tchy
11-01-2014, 05:53 PM
I thought you had to put it in reverse and then it will dip to a point, you then set how much you want it to dip while still in reverse. Once you are happy, drive off and it will level itself. Put it in reverse again and it will go to the position you have set.

Just go into the passenger door module and add the coding to your original value.
A pop up box will show telling you what to add on and where. Pot luck whether it works or not.
The prefacelift doesn't use long coding in door modules.

Wanted to add this from inspectorman63 for a cure to erratic auto wipers.
This is a me too post, but it also has the answer. Having driven my 2006 2.0 TFsi for six months, I too was unimpressed that the intermittent wipers were far too keen to go to maximum wiping and were too sensitive. I ended up never using positions 3 and 4, and rarely position 2. The wiki on the RossTech site is no help; it redirects to an A8 setting which cannot be input into an A6. So I asked them.
After one suggestion which didn't work, they suggested setting the RLS (RegenLichtSensor) coding to 00077101. The setting I had was 00141886. The new setting has transformed the sensitivity of the intermittent wiping from very annoying to usable. Settings one to four now have a usable range of sensitivity, and full speed mad wiping is rarely initiated by the sensor. A great result from RossTech and another reason for buying the genuine gear rather than the moody knock-offs.
This works very well.

Great to have the confirmation Dan!
Will try it as my (non-OEM) screen is aquapel treated I need my wipers half as much as most others with untreated screens.

This is probably very stupid question, but is it possible to set the distance for the rear parking sensors? Mine beeps continuously when there is still lots of space - makes it safe I guess, but would be good to know when I am e.g. 10 cm instead of 30+...
Other silly question, is there any way to have a meter/gauge visual for the DPF % blockage in the DIS?
Many thanks!
Guest 2

Why would you want to change the sensor programming? They're there for a reason? Ie to stop you hitting things.
Never seen a guage for DPF %age, probably not doable. Can read in measuring blocks in vcds though.

well, parallel parking into tight spots - it is a bit annoying that it beeps already continuously when you still have "loads" of space... it is a big car, could do with more accurate sensing... I would say when it is continuously beeping, it should mean to stop, not to let's go another 20 cm :)

Dear A6_Chris,
Many thanks for your advice, that was all it needed to hit yes for the park assist... was just concerned as those numbers in the warning (12345) sounded strange, but after hitting yes, all the values remained the same, and now have the visual aid :)... Also needle sweep, lat timer/boost gauge... This is probably a stupid question, but is the oil temp any better than the needle?
Guest 2

Oil temp and water temp are different things ....

^^^And never get the two fluids confused when topping up your oil/coolant :)
szladob
08-04-2014, 11:51 PM
I think i can keep those distinguished for topping up purposes.. :)
On the other hand I may need to do a bit more reading on the value of oil temp... my newly "activated" meter only really starts showing values from about 60 C, until then it is just dashed, and it seems to lag behind the water temp....
The little boost "meter" seems a bit strange, as it shows about a 1/4 of the value even for idling, and even at max acceleration is didn't go to max...
Is this supposed to refer to the turbo boost? I wonder if after remapping it would show more boost?
Guest 2
09-04-2014, 06:57 AM
Oil takes longer to heat up than water, depending on the sensor it will not show values at all times is until the oil is warm to get an accurate reading.
At idle the turbo is still active hence the small reading on the boost guage.
Also it will not show max turbo boost on maximum acceleration as there is a point where the turbo looses boost.
Everything is working correctly as it should!! Don't panic.

OK - my mate has VCDS and I'm borrowing it next week. Couple of Questions - I am going to do items 1,2,4
Facelift Cars - '58 plate onwards
7. Visual Parking Aid - if supported - can someone tell me what difference this makes - my parking aid already looks quite good with bars indicating distance left?
8. Enabling Lap Timer/Boost Gauge/Oil Temp - I probably will do this - unsure
9. Enable Rear DRL (Scandinavian Lights) - can someone tell me what difference this makes?
10. Enable Passenger Mirror Dipping - can anyone enlighten me on the benefit of this one?
Thanks for any help.

You ready have number 7 enabled, number 10 dips the passenger mirror when you select reverse to aid not hitting the kerb. It doesn't work to its full potential because you don't have memory seats, it's more a novelty rather than an aid.

Another thing, since yours is Irish spec you might not even have the alarm fitted so check on the drivers door card, below the door lock/catch if you have two small square buttons. If they're there then the alarm is fitted and could just be a coding issue or the siren has failed.

I think you just solved the mystery Chris.. went down and had a look there and no buttons. Very strange that as the spec is very high for an Irish car anyway as ya know.

Someone else had that issue so I presume its to do with other control modules in the car, possibly the CAN gateway..

Trying to do mmi high start up, but when carrying out test it states test error and no response from controller. Any ideas?
Have done a full scan with no errors showing, even tried different value of 2 but no joy.

Try the update, maybe your controller just doesn't support it. I'm assuming you're mmi high?

I have just done "5570 update" and wish to put back battery meter (as before), but I am having a problem. I am ok with the first part of MMI high, its when I do the MMI restart after I test the value I get a "Test error" message in the box, any ideas what's going wrong?

Not sure if others have experienced similar.... I added the lap timer/oil temp/boost to a 2011 a6 3.0tdi. All I was after was the oil temp, however oil temp shows --- and the boost is pegged out all the time. No fault codes on the car so my guess is the car cannot support this activated feature?

Facelift A6, Poking around on 5F (I forget which byte) I noticed that you can change the Screen from Standard, S Line, S and RS. Although mine is an S Line, it is coded as standard. Wondered if anybody else has tweaked this. Is it safe to do on the facelift models?

I did it, all I saw was the fact that the screen showed a different model name and I was getting errors in other modules. Was OK when I put it back.

I found this, as I don't have my vag lead yet I cant try it but thanks to C99 if you have electric seats without memory this should work if someone could try it and report.
Go to module 36 Seat Mem DrVr [j136] ,07, Coding change byte 2 bit number 0 , to value 1 (checked).
You should now see Key memory on/off in the MMI settings for drivers seat
If someone can try this and report back that it works.

Kegsie, you want to make a mod, my understanding of this thread was that it was for little known facts about changes you could make to your ride via VCDS (could be wrong of course)?
So perhaps you'd have more luck in either the VCDS forum (but as you've said you don't have yours yet) or else a completely new thread in this forum.
Good luck!

3G PDC Module Setup Procedure.
After installing the Controller, Bumper with PDC’s and the wiring the following needs to be done.
1. Using VCDS open the ‘19’ Can Gateway controller and select the installing list.
2. Check the ‘76’ Park Assist check box and save the settings (this will change the controller coding).
3. Open the ‘76’ Park assist controller and change the coding by changing the second 0 to 2. ( the coding is explained here http://www.audi-portal.com/en/diagno...u_11910.html#1 (http://www.audi-portal.com/en/diagnostic/ecu_11910.html#1))
4. Now click the ‘Do it Now’ box.
5. Now open the ‘5F’ Central Electronics controller and select coding.
6. Now select the long coding helper and click on Byte 8.
7. Now Check the Park Assist check box and close the helper box.
8. Now click the ‘Do it Now’ box.
9. Now you need to access the Hidden menu and select Car then CarMenuOperation.
10. Scroll to Parking Help and press select (BIG KNOB on the MMI) and scroll the setting to 5.
11. Now Press select (BIG KNOB on the MMI) and exit the menu press Radio Button.
12. Now you need to reset the MMI (press SETUP, BIG KNOB and top right soft button together).
You Should have the Parking assist in the MMI.

Hi guys!
I can't seem to find any info regarding my current issue.
I have a a6 2006 4.2 fsi quattro pre facelift, but with full nav + color dis.
My problem is that I can't change the color DIS middle screen , it only shows current outside temp... I can change between 1 and 2 on the lower part of the screen, and also get radio channel info + nav info in middle screen but I cannot change it manually to e.g digital speedometer or any other info for that matter. What do I need to do to activate this function?
Best regards,

Not sure if anyone else has noticed but some controllers now support long coding whereas before they didn't.
Just realised this today after turning off all my VCDS mods as I will be saying goodbye to my A6 this Tuesday.
One in particular is #09 Cent Elec. Might not be on all controllers but the version fitted to mine seems to have changed.

Hi, i would ask about amp coding. I didn’t find anything about my problem.
I want add aux to my mmi 2g basic (no bose system)
I enabled hidden menu, I activated aux in hidden menu, I connected aux cable to amp in trunk and then I tried to change amp coding to allow aux in.
My original coding is: 080001
I trying to change it to 080041 or 080051 (by this step
0000x?x: Microphone
1 = Microphone (Standard)
2 = Microphone (Voice Control)
4 = Microphone (Analog Input (AUX))
5 = Microphone (Voice Control and Analog Input (AUX))
and when i press “do it”, the error screen say “coding rejected, code out of range”
How can i solve this?
Thanks

preFL C6 and only aux/in is a nightmare, I will pm you a bit info later, but you might be out of luck here:(
Your amp official pinout should be this:
23 - Microphone for J507 (+)
25 - Analog input (+)
27 - Loop break diagnostic wire
28 - Microphone for J507 (-)
30 - Analog input (-)

-i pinned aux to connector on amp at 25+, 30-

Is different between preFL and FL in pin scheme? I have C6 2010. Its FL isnt it?

Hi mate,
I know this has been around 4 years, but hopefully you can help me! you are my last chance :)
I have Audi A6 C7 2014 (pre-facelift) with RMC low screen (NO AUX, No AMI, No SD Card). The only media source I have is CD and I need to find a way to install AUX (or AMI) on my amp. My amp is "Audi Multimedia" .
I am attaching my screen HW and SW version coming from the hidden green menu (no diag option to enable AUX from there) so I coded the AUX through VCDS, 5F module, Byte 8 , enabled bit 4 as in this guide (https://integratedautomotive.co.uk/activating-aux-input-on-audi-mmi-3g-and-mmi-mib1/)but I still don't see it on my media screen as a source (and I do still see CD only)
All I need again, is just AUX source!
