My money is on a corroded servo that needs replacing before you have an accident.

Wash the windscreen with a hose pipe then open the bonnet and remove the battery cover and shine a torch down the side of the battery. If there is water being trapped in the Plenum Chamber then that is you problem and the water has correded through your back servo. New one required. I note that you have TDI so you also have the fact thet the vacuum is sourced from the Tandem pump and there could be a problem there but check the water and servo first. You car is dangerous as it is. Regards Peter

The brake servo must be replaced before you kill yourself or someone else. It is dangerous to drive a car with this sort of fault.

personally, if my brakes stopped working i would sort it out as a priority, or not use the car until it did get fixed. you state its been like it for a 'few months'. amazing.

The bottom of the servo will be corroded and will rapidly deteriate and kill somebody. Get if fixed, it's not cheap but hey it's a life and may not be yours. Go and find a VAG indi and get it sorted. Regards Peter
