View Full Version : Please Help Audi A3 1.8T starts but cuts out straight away!

Hi i've just joined this forum. Basically i bought an A3 1.8T yesterday drove it bk 250 miles to my home town it was running fine. Once in town i gave it a lil to see wat it was made of, was about to change from 3rd to 4th gear and i hear a little pop and the car just cut out.

When i try and start it it starts but doesn't stay running. The revs go up and down a little then the car cuts out. If i try keep the revs up it stays up but then as soon as i try and move it the car cuts out again.

The engine has been modified quite abit here is some of the bits that have been done, ive just copied this info off the advert for it. Also i think it has a forge intercooler thought i would mention that incase that is causing the problem.

get diag test done to see if anything shows up
sounds like air leak

sounds like you have blown a turbo hose off or intake hose off would be the popping then unmetered air will cause the ecu to over or underfuel hope this helps

Cheers guys for the info. I jacked the car up last nite and noticed a hose from the intercooler had popped off. Car is running fine now just as i bought it.
