I know there are a large number of water leak threads for these cars. Please can anyone help with the problem I see with my Passat 2002 manual estate RHD. In my case the rear drivers side footwell fills with a large amount of water - up to 2 inches deep - I think via the heating duct. The main leak is I am sure when the car is stationary and is not related to being driven. Passenger side front and back seem to remain dry. Drivers side front appears to get wet but quite likely because the water spreads forward from the back like a sponge. The leak is much worse after snow than rain. The thawing process seems to be able to feed the water into the car like water pipe. The drain holes under the battery are definately clear and if water is poured into this area it immediately comes out under the car. There is a VW Information Note 443/06 which advises that the pollen filter housing seal is deficient in design and advises dealers to reseal using putty/mastic sealing cord. This could be the problem with my car but before going down this route I hope to find someone else who has had a similar problem and get some confidence that the pollen filter housing problem can give rise to a leak similar to mine. Any other solutions to the problem would be gratefully received. Thank you.

If the water is mainly in the rear footwell then i would say it is the window carrier assembly seal which is leaking, you can check this by pouring water on the window and check if the water is running out at the bottom of the door trim. You need to read your post, you say first the pass side fills with water, then you say pass side is dry??
