Hi all,

I have a question about the intercooler pipes on my 2003 passat sport 130bhp. It's got 165,000 miles on it. I've had the car about 3 years, it's going well and I'm delighted with it.

However, is it normal for these pipes to have oil inside them? Also, I've noticed a slight oil leak from some of the connections. I've taken off some of the connections and noticed a rubber seal, can this seal be replaced?

I service it myself and like to keep the engine clean!

Any helpful info appreciated. :)

Yes the oil in the pipes is perfectly normal; it gets sucked through the breather and sometimes turbo seals.

The rubber seals are available from main dealers. It is worth checking the condition of the alloy male end of the pipes as these can get holed from where the retainer clip rubs against it

thanks, that's a relief.
I'm going to have a close look at them tomorrow and will check the connector for holes.
