hi there my friend owns a golf v5, its lowered a bit and sits on 225/40/18s problem he got i drove it yesterday is that when u drive it there is constant rubbing like sound, gets louder and faster as u speed up, very scary at high speed,no obvious obstruction, no heavy movement through steering, its had new bushes etc, i suggested one of wheels maybe buckled but any other ideas welcome, as no garage can seem to find anything massively wrong when under there thanks in advance

i presume a garage has had it on a ramp and spun all the wheels by hand. if they cant find anything, all i can suggest doing is to drive it and try to narrow down where the noise is exactly, then take that wheel off and have a good check. its likely to be something like a loose mudflap hitting the tyre, or possibly something to do with the brakes. either a stone caught up or the backplate rubbing on the disc.
