No reverse light!...

On a 98 mk4 cabriolet 1.6, any ideas anyone please. ;) Oh, ive checked the bulbs. :confused:

Fuses, dry connection, switch attatched to gear stick when engaging reverse?

i agree with ben, most obvious is the fuses. second thing i would check would be the reverse gear switch, i know these are quite common for going :beerchug:

To be honest mate, I have no idea, I just guessed at the obvious.

reverse gear switch..

located on the top of the gearbox on some models...

To be honest im not 100% sure where it is on yours..

maybe some one else can advise!!

If you find on your tranny a plug with two wires sticking out of it, that's your reverse light switch. Pull the connector off and short the wires - if reverse lights light up, the switch is bad. If not, keep looking elsewhere (fuses, maybe both bulbs in rear light clusters...)
It shouldn't be too hard to diagnose.
