Has anyone any ideas on how to do this on a 2005 mk5 Golf?
The reason i ask is that my car is due to go back to the lease company and i know they will probably charge me for work that does not need done.
The car has no apparent faults.
A fault is logged, thats why the light is on.
Have a look in the vagcom section for a member in your area, scan the car and clear the fault.

I would like to just turn off the light as when i get it reset at £25 a time it re-appears after a few days.
Any ideas on turning it off or disabling it anyone please?

the only way to permanently clear the fault is to fix whatever is wrong. removing the bulb really isnt an option as it wont then illuminate before the car is started.

No, it's an LED soldered onto the board of the instrument cluster. Getting the light reset isn't the answer, that's why it keep coming back on. There is clearly a fault.

sometimes disconnecting the battery can put the light out for a while, it depends on the fault. But it will always come back eventually.

Get the fault codes read, then fix the issue.
Have you already had the codes read??
