Recently had my 2002 Passat 2.0 SE serviced by VW I noticed that they had used NGK plugs and not Bosch. Anyone know the reason why.
My Enginge code is AZM.

The ONLY plug recommended by VAG for the AZM engine is the NGK BKUR6ET-10. Are they genuine VW part numbered 101 000 033 AA?

Hi Crasher, thanks for the reply. I only took off one plug lead and all I could see was NGK in blue writing. On the sale invoice it quoted the number V101000033AA Do Bosch not do plugs for this engine anymore?MrG:approve:

Bosch are not recommended by VAG for this engine but the Bosch number would be FR 7 LD+, FR 7 LDC+ or +7. I always go by what ETKA recommends. If they give me a choice of NGK, Beru or Bosch I go for Beru, if they say only one make, that is what I fit. Certain engines (such as the Golf 3 VR6 AAA engine) are very fussy about plugs, the AAA seems unhappy on anything other than NGK.

Given the choice of NGK or BOSCH I would choose the former, spin a new NGK plug in one hand while gripping the threads in the other and feel how smooth they are compared to BOSCH or Champion with which you can feel little serrations and burrs and it feels as if it would cut your skin.
