Oil Smoke

Hi guys
This is my first time using a forum so please excuse any mistakes.
I have a 06 plate Passat estate 2.0Tdi sport 140 with 44K on the clock. Just recently I have noticed the car is rough when starting from cold (first thing in the morning) and today noticed a cloud of blue smoke (not gray or black) when my wife started it this morning, and when she drove off.

The car does mostly short journeys with the occasional journey to Devon and back which is about 300+ miles round trip.
The car still has 3-4 months of its extended warranty left so is going into our local VW dealer for it MOT and cambelt at the end of this month so will get this checked also. Just wondered if any one has had or heard of similar problems?

I am very pleased with the car in all, often getting 50+ mpg on motorway journeys (even with a full load and 5 occupants!)

that sounds like it could be the tandem pump leaking and allowing engine oil into it, thus contaminating the diesel. you can check by removing the fuel filter and pouring out the contents. if it black, then thats the problem. if so it will require a new tandem pump and fuel filter and the in tank pump can also suffer.
