audi a4 knocking when moving off

Hi

i have an audi 1.9 tdi 2001, when i am moving off after bitting point especially on an incline (uphill), you can hear a knocking noise for few seconds, it also occurs for a few second when changing in to 2nd gear whileaccelerating before the turbo engages, could it be the susension, or clutch, gearbox. please help!

Could be a few things. What's the mileage? If it's high miles, then it could be worn track-rod ends, anti-roll bar link, or top control arms. To check, raise the wheel and grab at a 10-to-2 position and rock from side to side. Should be little to no lateral movement. Haven't heard of worn engine or transmission mounts causing this - and I would suspect you would have experienced other symptons?
