View Full Version : Auto wiper problem

Hi there.

Recently had my windscreen replaced on my GT TDI 150. Auto Windscreens came out and did the job, replacing with a like for like screen, really good job, couldn't fault it at all. However driving to work today I had to use my wipers for the first time, since they replaced windscreen, only to find my auto wiper isn't working! If you put it on the 1 st setting, it does nothing.... whereas normally this is the slow wipe every few seconds! I have to notch it up to the second setting in order to get any movement.... but then my wipers are on constantly

What could be causing this? My screen has the auto wiper sensor and from what I can see, this is fitted properly from my rear view mirror housing.

Thanks for any replies!

You say it's fitted properly, but does this mean you've checked the electrical connections to the sensor? At the end of the day, it it's only the windscreen that has changed, the problem must be with the wiring, or thereabouts.

Cheers for the reply. I haven't properly checked the wiring yet... I'll give it a bash at weekend (when I find my hammer ;) ) would this also affect the 1st wiper setting as well?!

Well I finally got round to checking the wires best I could.... by that I mean a visual check to see if there's any breaks or loose wires (I'm no electrician)... everything seems to be in order on the rear mirror stalk, and the wires trace back into the roof lining ok. Weird thing is, when I set the stalk to the 1st setting, the wiper moves once but then no more

Any further ideas that I can check?

Cheers for any help.
