My current tyres are kumohs and have lasted only about 12k. I'm running 235/35/19 streched slightly over 9" rims. They have no rim protection at all as the rim sits outside of the tyre.

Can anyone recomened a good set of tyres which will last a bit longer and give a little better protction from stone chips etc. If anyone has any pictures of the same size tyre and rim set up it would be very helpfull!

The last tyres I had to buy pre company car were Goodyear Eagle F1s for my 5 Series.
17 inch 235s on the front 255s on the rear if I remember correctly.
They weren't cheap but they gripped like a bstard and still had plenty of tread on them after 15000 miles when I sold the car.
They had a very good rim guard on them but it didn't look silly.

I had looked the eagles and continental tyres. Alot of mercedes and things come with them ad standard and seem to sit well over the edge of the rim. But if I pay more will they last longer? Or do you pay more for a softer rubber that grips better and wears faster?

That was a worry I had with the softer rubber but as I said, they did me 20K and still had plenty of tread left.
Driving style does contribute a lot too. I'm quite gentle on tyres and my daily commute is all motorway.
There is also the factor that you could pay £150 for a tyre only to puncture it within a week in a place where it can't be repaired.
At the same time, a tight-wad friend of mine bought 4 new tyres which where as cheap-as-sh!t. First wet corner and he ended up in the ditch.
It is a gamble!
For our second car I go middle of the road (no pun intended) with Khumos or Firestones etc. You generally find that they are made by the likes of Michelin, Bridgestone and the likes.

Well my first set of tyres weren't punctured but stabbed out with a screw driver in the middle of the night in the streets of Belfast! Only had them about 2 months.
I had a cheap set of tyres on an old set of 18" wheels I borrowed from a friend while I saved for new tyres. They were crap! The car went side ways over the white lines on a round about one day in the wet!
The thing I have found odd is that the rear tyres have worn just as quick as the front. I was planning on swapping front to back but found it's prob not worth the effort! It's not an allignment issue as I had the car done when I lowered it and put the alloys on in July.
