by looking at it it has to be removed from the bottom..is it a big job? and the best place to get a replacement as Audi have quoted me £303 including vat. the part no. is 078903018x

thanks in advance

The front section needs to be put in the sevice position, all in all a 3-4 hour job,the alternator is an exchange unit, with a 2year warranty. There is the possibility you can repair the old unit, which could turn out a lot cheaper

I asked this same question today !

Have a look on my thread as there may be some useful info.

Seems like there's a fair bit of work involved.

Sadly it wont be as easy as it use to be on my mini ! :(

Ouch, nasty job just for an alternator. Best of luck with it. Maybe take a few photo's if you tackle it yourself.
