Grinding/Knocking Noise!!

To add to my list of expenses this happens to me this morning!!

I get in the car and when I turned it to the left heard a loud noise like when I turn it something drops off or hits against something and noticed when turning to the right the noise is much greater.

I did drive it for like 5 mins and you can feel it near the footwell and bit worrying as seemed as though the front end would drop off!!! :aargh4:

Its a MK5 Golf on a 04.

The noise is not from the alloys/wheels!!

I jacked it up today and turned the wheels and no noise and when I was putting it back down could hear it again like someone hitting a bar against a metal bar, and with the tyre on it made the noise again!!!!!

Didnt have time and get dark too quick, im guessing it may be the joints?
