This is my first time - so hope this makes sense.

Just bought a new Q7 S line and need snow chains for our drive to the Alps. Receiving conflicting advice re which ones suit - and unable to get any response from Audi - except change all our wheels to a smaller size!

Tyre size is 275/45/20 - Thule sell a pair that they say fit - but roofbox.co.uk recommend only Spikes Spiders saying other types do not fit even if websites say they do.

Have left messages online and on the phone to Audi UK Customer Services but they are ignoring me. Can anyone help?

Found this on another site

In the handbook, it appears to say that snow chains are only suitable for 18" wheels. It doesn't go as far as saying you can't fit them to 20" wheels though.

I've gone for winter tyres and hope that the conditions aren't too severe when we get there.

Try this link for more info on snowchains:

Thanks for the reply.....now I've picked the Q7 up I can see that there is a clearance issue with standard snow chains with the 20" wheels. I've now brought a pair of Spikes-Spider sport chains (they don't cause any obstruction on the inside of the wheel) and they fit a treat............
