Hi everyone,

Putting my son in the back of the car yesterday (2001 gti 2.0l) and i noticed that on the floor behind the drivers seat is absolutely soaking wet, I've checked the door seal and for holes/damage underneath and can't see anything obvious, but i've also heard that i should check around the pollen filter for leaf blockages, Has anyone experienced this or even heard of it? And how do i do this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

If it was the pollen filter problem, the wet carpets would probably be on the passenger side. Even so, worth checking it. Lift the bonnet, unscrew 4 screws on the near-side of the windscreen cowl. You can at least then do a visual on whether or not it is wet in there. Also, while in there, clear the drain (that goes to the wheel arch).

Another possibility is the seal on the window mechanism carrier panel that bolts to the door. Doing a search you can find... http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=1818&highlight=water+ingress and lots more!

Thanks for the link, There seems to be a lot of useful leads there and hopefully one of them will work.
