A4 130 TDI ( Issues )

Hi all, I have a a4 tdi 130 on a 52 plate,

A couple of issues with the car hopefully I can get some help with..

1. The glovebox light is not working, is this easy to replace or am i better leaving as is??
2. Sometimes when starting the engine turns over longer than usual, it always does it in the morning, then sometimes even when the engine is warm.
3. Does anyone know where i can get a manual for the car, for whatever reason haynes dont seem to do one!
4. I am lkooking for one of the little plastic clips which cover the screw on the engine cover.

My car also didn't come with a manual. All I did was phone up the local Audi dealer part department and ordered one. They were even kind enough to post it for me. Cost about £9 if I remember rightly.

I also don't have the glove box light working. Been too lazy to look at it, even though its really annoying! Di you check the bulb? and see if it has voltage coming to it?

If your glove box pretty much falls, when you open it (it should glide open slowly), then most likely a broken dampner (Audi call it a brake element).

It does two things: Dampen the fall of the glove box, and also switch on/off the light

Simple to fix: 8E2880324A is the part number. Order one from audi: £17 - fit it in 5 mins.

It looks and fits like this.

No worries - no need to take the glove off - just need to open the cover on the passengers side, and you'll see it..

Like I said- 5 mins work

You may have worn out glowplugs, try operating the plugs 2 or 3 times before starting..
Also, a failed coolant temp. sensor can lead to starting problems.
