View Full Version : Please Help central locking & electric window problem

need help please, mk4 golf. have major problem central locking using key remote not working, same as the electric windows and interior light all not working, checked fuses all o.k. can anybody please suggest what i can try next,

Have you checked the fuses on the 13 position additional relay carrier above the relay plate

thanks for your quick reply, the only fuse on the relay plate i have checked is the one below the relay which is not like a normal fuse. has a metal cover is this the right one? are there any more . many thanks greg

hi kenny must be going blind found two 15 amp fuses both ok any other suggestions please

Does the central locking work when you use the key in the lock?and what year month is the vehicle

hi its a 02 month ? reg doc. at another house sorry, yes it locks with the key also it locks using the switch on the drivers door, also the rear interia light work with the switch, when the doors are open and engine running no warning light on the dash to say the doors are open ?

There is possibily a faulty micro switch in one of the doors,or a fault with the control unit,you will need a fault code read to find out

thanks again for all your help, will the fault show if the ecu warning light is not lit? if i disconnet the micro switches one at a time will the other doors still work? also do not understand what the control unit is,

The fault will show up either as a fault code or in what is called measured block values,in the control unit (Convenience control unit).you can not disconnect the micro swithes,as they are in the door locks.The CCU has no warning light

somehow managed to fix it, don't know how?. unplugged all relative connectors tested the connection, reconnected, all now seems to be fine fingers crossed. must have been a bad connection. many thanks again to kenny and batteryman
